Woodend Sanctuary Wedding photography – Cristy & Jamie

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Ceremony and reception location  : Woodend Sanctuary, Chevy Chase, MD

Wedding date : April 2, 2011

Photographs by Jennifer

Cristy and Jamie were married at the lovely Woodend Sanctuary on an April morning that was overcast, then sunny, then rainy, then sunny, then stormy and then sunny again. They rolled with the punches gracefully, moving their outdoor ceremony into the historic mansion’s foyer when the first downpour wouldn’t let up and squeezing outdoor portrait sessions in between the subsequent bursts of rain and hail throughout the day. They took on much of the decorating for their nature- and beach-inspired wedding themselves. Cristy made the centerpieces, cleverly combining real squares of sod with whimsical pink tulips. One of her bridesmaids arranged tulip bouquets — and stashed them in a bucket from the Rita’s Ice shop that the groom owns. And Jamie’s best man served as officiant, emcee, coordinator and jokester. (He did a marvelous job at all four tasks!) By mid-afternoon, we were graced with some lovely light for photos of the newlyweds in the woodsy area where they were originally to have been married. Congratulations, Cristy and Jamie. It was a pleasure working with you and your families!

Comus Inn Wedding Photography, Dickerson, MD – Danielle & Chris

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Ceremony and reception location  :  Comus
Inn, Dickerson, MD

Wedding date : October 3, 2010

Photographs by Jennifer

Danielle and Chris were married in what was easily one of my top-five
favorite ceremonies ever. Despite stormy skies threatening the Comus
Inn for most of the day, the rain managed to hold off — mostly –
until after Danielle and Chris had exchanged their vows, wiped away a
few tears and literally danced back up the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s
‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered.’ Theirs was truly an occasion to celebrate
family — and their union as a new little family. The couple’s
siblings, in-laws, closest friends and great-aunts provided the music,
singing and playing guitars and a piano. The groom’s father offered
the opening welcome. The bride’s father, a minister, married the
couple. (One of my favorite moments of the day occurred when he
choked up and needed to turn away to collect his emotions before giving away
and then marrying off his little girl.) Both families are very
religious and a beautiful, deliberate prayerfulness hung over the
entire day. The couple also incorporated all kinds of personal
touches, using the bride’s parents’ toasting glasses and cake knife,
borrowing a veil from the bride’s sister-in-law and incorporating the
same purple flowers that the groom’s mother carried at her own wedding
into their reception arrangements. The couple’s wedding party also
provided the entertainment for the evening, learning the choreography
to the entire ‘Thriller’ dance and performing after dinner. They also
had the best buckeye candies, made by a friend, that I have ever
tasted. And since the groom is more of a milk-and-cookies kind of guy
than a cake lover, Danielle baked him a giant baseball-themed
chocolate chip cookie, which she asked the caterers to serve with his
own pitcher of milk. Congratulations, Danielle & Chris. It was such a
joy working with you and your families!

Great Room at Savage Mill Wedding Photography – Lauren and Jesse

Ceremony and reception location  : Great Room at Savage Mill

Wedding date : October 3, 2010

Photographs by Roman

Lauren and Jesse had their ceremony and reception at the Great Room at historic Savage Mill. Before their ceremony they chose to see each other which gave us some time to do their portraits beforehand. Following their traditional Jewish ceremony the happy couple and their guests were ready to hit the dance floor and have a great time.

Strathmore Wedding Photography – Jennifer and Jeffrey

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Ceremony and reception location  : Strathmore Mansion, Bethesda, MD

Wedding date : August 28, 2010

Photographs by Thomas and Shamus

Jennifer and Jeff were married on August 28th at the Strathmore Mansion.  Their ceremony was held outside the mansion at sunset, which provided a great backdrop for their ceremony.  After the ceremony we took full advantage of the great grounds at the Strathmore for photos of the couple and bridal party.  Jennifer and Jeff have a great group of friends that were up for having fun while we did the photos, as you can tell from the photos.  Then we were off to a reception filled with toasts and dancing.
