Gillian & Jim were married at Liriodendron, a more than century-old mansion in Bel Air. Their wedding was full of special touches that their guests went crazy for — namely, a tower of cupcakes and a full-size, black-and-white photo booth. They had a tower of dozens of cupcakes topped by a single layer of cake topped by a few more cupcakes. Altogether, it must have stood 5 feet off the table. Guests had their pick of desserts with such fanciful toppings as sugared rose petals, chocolate-covered coffee beans, chocolate truffles and chocolate baskets of blueberries, to name a few. People loved them. Guests seemed to feel similarly about the photo booth, which spit out skinny little strips of black and white images all night long. On the wedding-day schedule that Gillian e-mailed me, she described the timeline after dinner and toasts this way: “Then, everyone dances their butts off until 11 PM.” She wasn’t kidding. It was quite the party!
