Chris Zimmer - I have always had a bottomless enthusiasm for creating photographs. No matter how much you explain it, there's definitely a little magical mystery to the whole photographic process. That captivated me even in high school. I graduated from Ohio University with a degree in photojournalism before moving to our nation's capital. As a news photographer for many metro-area publications and a contributing photographer for The Washington Post's Living and Sports sections, I learned to anticipate the next move and to see about 10 seconds into the future. Weddings are filled with anticipation and action like this. After a stint as American University's official photographer, I began shooting weddings on the weekends while working during the week as an architectural photographer for a marketing company. Wedding photography had always been the passion while the real estate shoots refined my lighting skills. My goal is my journey, and I sometimes have to remind myself how fortunate I am to be able to shoot what I love. I attempt to capture a wedding's key moments while always looking for the ones that can be easily overlooked. Finding and documenting those valuable images during a couple's most special day has had more drama and emotion than a month's worth of newspaper assignments.
